Tis the season, and it's only just begun! It has been pretty hectic (as usual) around here, Christmas day has come and gone but we have just begun celebrating the 12 days of Christmas...
My mind has been adrift very much these days to the worries on my heart that should be in God's hands, and I have felt pretty down... but... I know I shouldn't be, we are, afterall, celebrating Jesus' birth... AMEN. Lord I cast my worries upon you, I know you have been waiting. Looking forward to a wonder-filled 2012... Maybe it's because I am a mom, that feeling like we go 100 mph 24/7 is just part of life, but really, I don't think people have a CLUE what goes in to being a wife/mother... and I know this because there are many times, when I am asked to do one more thing I am usually thinking ... really?

So here's my new idea, that I will do as often as I can remember so that maybe, just maybe if a man reads this blog he will think, hey, maybe I DON'T have a clue...

So far today I have,

Made breakfast
Finished my husbands time sheets, copied them, taken them to be faxed and went to the post office to mail the originals.
Ironed my sons clothes for school.
Wrapped three teacher gifts and attached cards
Picked up lunch for my son and niece and went to school to eat with them.
Called in the new insurance information for my husbands meds to the pharmacy, called back to make sure it went through and will soon be on my way to pick them up.
Called my mother in law's podiatrist to see if there was anyway they could see her today.
Called the hospital to find out if there was a wound care clinic bc the doctor couldnt see her.
Begged my brother in law to pick up my mother in laws layaway so that I didn't have to wait in line for it on my BDAY!
Fed the dog and have taken him out 3 times.
Washed the breakfast dishes...

and did i mention it is only 2 pm...

Yesterday, I can honestly say I had a nuclear meltdown... Overwhelmed, worn down and tired... But my lovely Jesus must have whispered in my ear last night and feel refreshed, hopeful and at peace today. I fight constantly within myself because I get tired of feeling like always being a caregiver, taken care of everyone and everything else, feeling thankless, unappreciated and just not feeling joy... I can't even imagine how Jesus should have felt, but didn't because he expected so little, if anything, in return for ALWAYS loving and giving. Makes me feel pretty shameful when I have pity parties, and then to expect him to lift me up... Sorry Jesus... Yesterday Momo was pretty grouchy after coming out of surgery and of course I'm the one that gets it, but who wouldn't be, lying flat on her back for three days, just an iv, they brought her food in and everything in me wanted to run away because I didn't want to give anymore, I wanted to crawl into bed and pull the covers over my head. Selfish instead of selfless, all my list of everything I still needed to do running through my head and me in my stubbornness not wanting to make an effort to do anymore, I was done... But as much as I fight it, I know my ministry is my family and dying to my own needs, as hard as it is...is part of my calling. And in my heart of hearts, I know this, and I know that God will sustain me, and my blessings are MANY! Today please pray for health, everyones... Diabetics, cardiac patients, the blind, Alzheimers, asthma and dementia, these diseases have been so much of a battle for the people I love... Jesus, I trust in you!

It has been cold, and the days are going to go by too quickly, because Christmas month is like that, we wait in anticipation then... poof, it's over...
There has been a lot going on in our little family, but the foremost of which is some scary news for my husband, it seems his PSA level has more than tripled since his last check-up, PSA levels are checked because an elevated PSA can be an indicator for prostate cancer. Yes, the dreaded "C" word. What's more of a concern is Johnny's age, usually these levels don't rise until the 60's/70's age range... Although his level is still under the "number" they use as a concern level, the number doubling in a year's time is not a good sign, Johnny's more than trippled.
So that's where we are at, his doctor wants to wait one month to see how much more, if any, his level rises and then they will do a biopsy. He feels certain that any cancer that is found can be taken care of with radiation and chemo can be avoided. We are scared, we are worried but we must wait... and focus on better things to keep us going. This is a blessed season, and I feel certain a blessing is coming our way.

Well, once again change is coming around for my little family. It's official, I am switching jobs! I gave my two week notice at work and now I am going to another little part time job at the church, that I am very excited about! It's going to be a little hectic for the next few weeks as I juggle transitioning from one job to the other but I am very excited, it is so obvious to me that this is part of God's plan because I can't help but feel like I am going on the path that he has chosen for me, for whatever reason, and me, the person that usually does not like change... I have such a feeling of overwhelming peace. God is good, and I can't wait for this new chapter to begin!

So excited because today is my Friday and me and my monkey have a three day weekend coming up, but he is coming home sick from school so THAT is not good, hopefully it is just a little bug and he'll feel better this afternoon.

I have been super busy finalizing things up for the festival and I was on the phone for quite some time last night trying to sign up volunteers to work shifts and I still have a long way to go to fill up my list... yikes.... it will all come together, I have no doubt.... I am feeling so ready for fall, this is my favorite time of year and I want to put all this stress behind me and get my house ready for the holidays, hopefully...

Our lives, once again have been crazy busy. This past weekend, has been especially so. I am really struggling because I am feeling like I might have brought it on myself, which I know I shouldn't. It's kind of odd as a matter of fact, because while we were waiting, which we did a LOT of the movie Benjamin Button was on, and it seems like even though I have never watched the movie completely, when I do see a part of it, it is almost the same part... I have never seen the whole movie, so I don't really know what it is about, but the part I have seen is where the girl he is infatuated with gets hit by a car and it ends up ending her hopes of a dancing career... but it goes back in time through the sequence of events that led to that point, if this lady hadn't forgotten to pick up a gift and made the Taxi driver stop, if the girl at the gift shop hadn't broken up with her boyfriend the night before and had gotten to work on time and had the gift ready to go and not delayed the lady, etc., etc., you get the idea...

Well, Friday was Grandparents Mass at Noah's school and you would think this would be a fun time, but for me, even though I love the special things like that, it isn't. Both of Noah's Grandma's require a lot of effort to get them anywhere, and everytime there is something like this I am stressed, full of anxiety and can't even enjoy being there because I am busy getting them there and making sure they are seated so my focus isn't even on Noah, I know this sounds horrible and selfish but I am just being very honest, and the stress of knowing it is coming up is just as bad. Well this year they decided to do a reception with ice cream on the playground.... really? My mother in law is legally blind so she can't walk well and certainly isn't going to stand long and my mom is 80 years old with Dementia and most times can be confused just getting her one place and is unstable as well, so I have to get them both to mass at 8 am which means leaving the house to pick them up by 715 because they have to be seated in the church before there might not be a seat and that whole process is enough to send me into an anxiety attack, the thought of maneuvering them to the playground for a reception is not exactly the best scenerio, yes, think what you want but I've just gotten to the point where it is much easier to NOT do these things but I also don't want my son to miss out on having a grandparent there. So, I opted to not even mention it, which leads me to where I am now that Noah's other Grandma called him the night before and he told her about it so of course I had to tell her the details and she said she wanted to go, hence the GUILT for not telling my Mom which is unavoidable because there was no way she was going to go without having her hair done the day before, well his Grandma ended up falling while getting ready that morning, which led to our entire weekend at hospitals, two fractures to her neck, follow-up doctor visits and me adding more to my plate which runneth over and over and over and over.... and all because of Grandparents day mass.... or at least that's how I feel. Am I a horrible person? No, I know that, because I go above and beyond for my family and have been there for my Mom so much of my life but it seems like in the last few years I am getting to where I don't want to anymore, now that I have my son I want to be carefree and let things be about us, is that horrible? Some might think so, but I know between God and I he understands my heart, and he also knows despite my frustration and worries I will always do the right thing, I just hate that my heart isn't in it most times...

Sometimes you hold back on things because you don't think it is either right or worth sharing, and sometimes things happen in your life and at that very moment you think, I know I should share that and sometimes you hold back because you don't want people to know that side of you or you aren't sure how it will sound or even worse.... "what would they think" BUT sometimes or most times we should say we are who we are and be just that....
I think I tend to hold back on my blog postings for a lot of different 'sometimes'.
I like to laugh and cut up, I also like to pray and talk to God, and sometimes I can say very inappropriate things (gasp) and most times I laugh at it... (And I know God has a sense of humor... because of my nappy hair of course) I can pray ferverently to God for his guidance and love the Rosary and spending time in adoration but I also have my dark side where I can curse like a truck driver but still be a lady (give me a break, I worked most of my life with men). I am also very girly but I have put worms on a fish hook but LOVE tutu's and pink anything... I guess what I am saying there is a wide spectrum to who I am and the people in my life, I can blend in to most any setting but I can detect a person who isn't what they are pretty quick and tend to shy away from them (or run, it's just to exhausting and I am not a very good actress, okay, unless I must be)...
I guess what I am saying, in way too many words is that, I am not gonna hold back as much as I have before because SOMETIMES, that makes me lose a little bit of the shine of who I am... so, things are gonna be blogged a little bit more openly, put on your seatbelts, take a xanax, love me anyway and most importantly, just hit the little x and poof, the window will be closed...

This week I am challenging myself... We just wrote a HUGE tuition/registration check, (gulp) and we have to pay registration again in about two weeks (BIG gulp). I am very blessed with a husband that truly busts his tail to support his family so I have to do my part to, and I try my very best to do that... One of the most important is by cutting back as much as I can on unneeded expenses... I only work 4 hours a day, and really, this covers Noahs tuition and the remaining goes toward paying off the last year (yay!) of our car payment... so I am training my family to live on one income... the challenge is to continue to save... So, this week and the next two weeks I am going to cook from what I have in the house, of course I will have to get the things we NEED that do run out like eggs, bread, milk, and lunch meat but other than that, I may be getting a little more creative... we'll see how it goes!

Today is officially the last day of summer break, tomorrow we are back to schedules, schedules and more schedules... My heart is aching because I know my baby is going to be nervous tomorrow, new class, new teacher. I took off the whole day to be at school, don't know if I can stay with him the whole time but I am hoping just knowing I'm around will be good. He is so much like me that I hate these kinds of things, as much as I didn't want him to be a worrier like me he very much is... makes it hard to let go because it sends me back in time to being a little worrier... my sweet sweet boy, love him so much and I know he will do great. My first grader, growing up so fast....

Well, I can't give out too many details out about our wonderful retreat weekend, really because of the river rule :) But mostly because it is hard for me to put it all down, it was, I have to say, the best retreat to date, God was really at work, our team was amazing and every time I think of it I get choked up. Right now I am feeling that love from the Holy Spirit and battling to keep that devil from stealing my joy... I am so truly blessed, I miss my girls so much already I don't think my heart has ever ached this bad after a retreat, we had a BLAST together. Every time I am asked to be on team I put a new goal in my mind, maybe a lesson from last teaming, really not sure why; but my goal this time was to make a personal connection with every team member, sometimes with so many of us if we are not on the same ministries or services we don't get to know eachother as well. I wanted to make sure every face and name meant something to me, but now my heart is so full of their lives and trials that it is busting at the seams for love for them, the shared love for our God and just the joy, laughter, silliness and faith that we have while serving our God... I love my sisters deep down in my heart, I love my sisters deep down in my heart, deep deep, down down, deep down in my heart.... God watch over them and bless them, they are a big part of my life....

At this very moment, I have a terrible headache, bordering on migraine because even my teeth hurt, if the light starts bothering me, I'm in big trouble! Why, because I have so much To Do....
I slept til 10, witch was wonderful, but my leg swelled up thursday after my team mtg. Which tells me I have been OVER doing it.... Not taking my meds and going nonstop caught up to me which means elevated legs and double meds... Not good... Why? Well my health first if course but also because with retreat coming up I have so much to do!
Memorize my part for my skit, it's only 3 pages and thanks to my head I just want to lay down (but I will settle for my legs elevated on the dashboard while my honey does his visits)
Gotta make labels for pillow gifts
Gotta make my poster for another skit
Gotta wrap my gift for my secret sister
Gotta finish my love letters
Gotta make the labels for the CD's
Gotta call my prayer partner and go over retreat items
Gotta pack - well wash before that...
And gotta put up the mess from vacation!
I feel like summer is over already and we are back to taking things a week at a time because life is so jam packed...
BUT... It felt so good after talking with my hubby, having to slow down gives you that time lol, God is so good, we love him so much that nothing else but doing his will matter, and we know he provides, and through him EVERYTHING is possible, our ACTS family, they are the loves of our life... God's service is so much of who we are, and everyday I realize how much more I have to work on ME... Most especially by letting him work through me..

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Summer, I know that my little family is. I feel so bad because my husband works so hard and it's all for us and Noah and I truly appreciate that we have a good Daddy and Husband. It was so nice that he finally took some time off and we enjoyed our get away vacation together. I am already planning our next trip down to the coast, we had a wonderful time, we found a hotel we absolutely love in Rockport and we loved loved loved the pools at Port Royal in Port Aransas. We are tanned and happy but relaxation sure did come to a halt when I realized how much work I have to do now that I am home! It was all worth it though, that's for sure... Can't wait to get my little family all settled in at home and tackle getting my house back in shape so we can go somewhere else again! Gotta love Summer!!

Well, is everyone surviving the hot days of summer! Jeez, we are burning up down here in Texas... One thing for sure is me and my loveee are getting some great use out of our pool, I still dream of the day when we have an in-ground pool, and we WILL get there, I am thinking that is going to be our 10 year anniversary present to eachother - God-willing... I wanted to have Gary Hobbs come and play for me personally, but when I thought about it, that would just be one night but my pool would be forever... LOL... We did get the bigger pool this year and even though I complained like you would not believe about a ladder (my apologies to the salesclerk at Academy for Johnny and I scaring her with our heated debate), I wanted a big pool we could step into, well... I thought I won and that's what we got but apparently we bought the big pool that is actually almost 4 feet... Ya, I am pretty sure that my husband tricked me and I was NOT happy but when I managed to figure out how to get into it (please remember I DON"T like heights....) I love it because i can swim, okay so maybe it's only 6 feet or so but hey, its still a swim... LOL... of course I made my husband miserable til I was comfortable with it because, hello, I am 40 now and I could fall and break a hip trying to get out of that pool - and NO, I am not drama! Now I wish we had gotten the bigger one... but, alas, hopefully fingers crossed we will only have a couple more summers of the above ground pools before we get the real thing!!! That is because this momma has been learning how to get by on less so that we can start to save more.... That and the fact that we won't have any car payments after this year woop woop! It's so tempting to switch Noah to a public school and save that tuition money, but we love St. James and as long as he is happy there, we won't be moving anywhere... but that extra money sure would be nice! No, Noah is totally worth it!
